Myth III: The Wolf Age Announced by G.O.D. Games

After rampant speculation, it is finally official. We decided to wait for the word of G.O.D. rather than track down semi-rumours floating around the net. Blues News posted news regarding Myth III, direct from Mike Wilson of G.O.D. games a few days ago, but no details were given. Wait no longer, as it is now official; Myth III is a go.

Under developement by a new game developer, Mumbo Jumbo, the team will consist of a few veterans of cross platform construction, including Andrew Meggs of the failed Sierra port of Halflife (Sierra pulled the plug even though the game was playable, due to fright over the outlook of years of patch developement to keep the multiplayer in sync with the PC). Bitter pill to swallow for Andrew who poured his life into the port only to have it cancelled due to no fault of his own, just poor corporate planning. Recently Meggs has been responsible for the succesful port of the butt-stomping-female-lead game Heavy Metal: Fakk2. With Andrew on the job, we can be sure to see good things in Myth III. Here is an excerpt from the Press Release:

Myth III: The Wolf Age is a prequel to Bungieis original Myth games. Set ten centuries prior to Myth: The Fallen Lords, the game will focus on the exploits of Connacht, the first emperor of human lands, who saved mankind from the vile Myrkridia and Trow races.

The game will set new standards for 3D RTS games through the use of true 3D characters, procedural foliage, deformable terrain, innovative network games, a powerful roster of units and an engrossing story.

"The Myth franchise is known for innovative content and gameplay. Myth III will continue this tradition and also support the latest 3D technologies available for Windows, Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X," said Mumbo Jumbo President Mark Dochtermann.

A good Myth 2 companion-in-arms of ours who, up until recently, had been working hard as part of the JINN team has been hired to work on Myth3. JINN is a 3rd party mod for Myth2: Soulblighter, developed by fans of the series. We at Mac Observer would like to wish our freind Richard all the best as he works on Myth3: The Wolf Age, and congratulate him on his new job at G.O.D. Congrats, Iggy!
