O WC and NewerTechnology introduced a new lithium ion battery for 15-inch aluminum PowerBooks today that boasts more capacity than Appleis own. The NuPower AL15 4800mAh 53.3 watt-hour battery has 11 percent more capacity than the original 46 watt-hour battery included with 1GHz and 1.25GHz PowerBooks, with a slightly smaller increase over the 50 watt-hour battery Apple currently offers.
NewerTechnologyis batteries are manufactured in the USA with Li-Ion cells made in either Japan or Canada. Of note, the battery does not have the ability to put a PowerBook automatically sleep when its power reserves are depleted--customers will have to put their PowerBook to sleep manually or the system will shut down completely and without warning when the battery is exhausted.
