There are lots of great articles, and some really bad ones, on the Internet. Though we link to all of them at MacOS News Around The Web, some of them deserve special mention here. Most of what we will mention within these pages will be among the best, but on occasion we will talk about articles that are so bad or so wrong we just have to say something. Consider them mini-editorials on our part about things we think you might also be interested in.

Best [3:00 PM] Applelinks: The Farr Site - Serengeti in the Sangres
First up, we have John Farris column called The Farr Site. This column regularly talks little about the Mac as Mr. Farr tackles issues about life, living, and an occasional slightly crazy rant. :-) In this piece, Mr. Farr talks a lot about life, death, and mutilated cows. He also has a brief bit about Apple that we think is to die for. The rest of it is a very good read too. Our favorite quote from this piece:

Remember three years ago when Apple was "beleaguered"? I worried like a sumbitch about whether Iid have a decent computer to use if Apple folded. The predators were circling, too, closing in for the kill. We stood there, said we believed in Macs, and stray dogs wandered over to pee on our legs while the crowd guffawed. But now? Jobs has his own executive jet, ha-ha. What did all the worrying produce? Did we save Apple? I hardly think so. Will Apple survive? Absolutely not! ("Chomp!") I give it 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 years, maybe. Eventually there wonit be anyone around who even cares, either. There, now donit you feel better?

That is almost priceless. :-) A very good read. Reviewer - Bryan Chaffin

Best [3:00 PM] HeraldNet: UW fans prove to be obtuse geeks
Whatis this? A non-tech related member of the Best & Worst? This is indeed just that, but we think it a good read.John Sleeper writes an editorial aimed at local University of Washington football fans, but the overall message is one that many people all over the world should read and pay attention to. Our favorite quote from this piece:

In fact, the likelihood is that the arrogance and public sneering will only perpetuate and grow worse. After all, these people spawn. Then they teach their offspring the same behavior. Itis too bad, too. Coach Rick Neuheisel has not only a team of great skill and entertainment value, but also one of very good character. The nation will find that out Jan. 1 at the Rose Bowl. Unfortunately, a lot of it will be overshadowed by a lot of middle-aged delinquents who have all the sportsmanship, class and manners of Bob Knight. Itis one thing to be an enthusiastic fan. Itis another to be a jackass.

A good read. If you know a fan like this, print out this article and tape it to their forehead. Reviewer - Bryan Chaffin
