Other World Computing (OWC) on Tuesday added to its line of Mercury Elite external hard drives with the introduction of the Mercury Elite-AL Pro 800 RAID Dual Drive FireWire 800, which starts at a 160GB capacity, with a 4MB data buffer, for US$249.99. Like OWCis other new Mercury Elite drives, these new RAID configurations feature aluminum cases meant to evoke the look of the Power Mac G5. They ship with Dantz/EMC Retrospect Backup and Intech Hard Disk SpeedTools software. Mac OS X v10.2.8 or higher is required.
Other models available in the new line of RAID drives include: 240GB ($299.99), 320GB ($319.99), 400GB ($379.99), 500GB ($419.99), 600GB ($549.99) and 800GB ($749.99). All of them feature 16MB data buffers.
