Olympus Rolls Out Stylus Verve S Camera, Total Imaging Solution Additions, More

A long with new D-Series cameras, Olympus introduced the new Stylus Verve S Thursday, as well as new accessories for other models.

The stylish Stylus Verve S comes in a black-and-silver enclosure and features a 5.0-megapixel CCD, 2x optical zoom lens, and 4x digital zoom. The camera is constructed of lightweight metal with rubber gaskets throughout its interior, giving it all-weather capabilities.

The Stylus Verve S will ship in April for $349.99.

Total Imaging Solution

Olympus added two new products to its Total Imaging Solution product line, which aims to eliminate the PC from the digital imaging equation. The new IR-300 digital camera and S-DVD-100 DVD/CD Reader/Writer are the latest elements of the Total Imaging Solution, which also includes the IR-500 camera, hard drive storage system, and a digital photo printer.

The IR-300 is an ultra-slim camera, just 0.87 inches thick, with a 5.0-megapixel CCD, 3x optical zoom lens, 4x digital zoom, and 2-inch LCD. The camera will ship in April for $349.99.

The S-DVD-100 allows digital photos for the first time ever to be burned directly to disc from a supported camera. It will ship in May for $399.99.

Underwater Housings

Stylus 500 and C-7070 Wide Zoom digital camera owners will be able to take photos underwater this summer when the PT-026 and PT-027 underwater housings ships.

According to the press release, "these stylish and durable transparent polycarbonate housings support underwater digital imaging enthusiasts and are also ideal for use during activities that call for ultimate protection from the elements such as snowboarding, fishing, kayaking, or even in certain industrial situations."

The PT-026, for the Stylus 500, will cost $179.99, while the PT-027 for the C-7070 Wide Zoom will sell for $249.99.

Olympus Underwater Housings

Olympus also announced the new PT-E01 underwater housing for the Evolt E-300 Digital SLR camera, but pricing and availability will be disclosed at a later date. Also demonstrated were new Zuiko Digital Specific Lenses and the new FL-36 Flash. Details on those products will arrive at a later date as well.
