PC Magazine Gives New 15-inch PowerBook High Marks

PC Magazineis Web site has posted a review of Appleis 15-inch PowerBook that gives the laptop a 4-out-of-5 rating and notes that it "may look exactly like other PowerBooks before it, but this one has some updates that make it even better." Reviewer Cisco Cheng points to the enhanced trackpad and the new Sudden motion Sensor, which detects a sudden drop and parks the hard driveis heads, as examples of positive changes in the portable.

He also says that Appleis use of Bluetooth 2.0 "is the first time weive seen this in a notebook," a development thatis ahead of the curve, given that peripherals compatible with the new technology "should start arriving soon." On the downside, Mr. Cheng wishes the portable had an extra USB port and gives it sub-par marks in the video and gaming tests run on it. The music and photo tests, however, placed the 15-inch PowerBook in line with the best laptops on the market.
