PowerLogix on Tuesday introduced new single and dual processor 1.6GHz G4 upgrade cards for Power Mac G4 AGP Graphics (Sawtooth), Gigabit Ethernet, Digital Audio, Quicksilver and Quicksilver 2002 models. The cards feature Freescaleis PowerPC 7447A processor with 512K of L2 cache, real-time thermal monitoring, dynamic frequency switching (DFS) and CPU Director, PowerLogixis proprietary software that provides graphical temperature data.
The single processor 1.6GHz upgrade is US$299 while the dual processor version is $499. Mac OS X v10.3.5 or higher is required; v10.3.9 is necessary to support thermal monitoring and DFS.
