REAL Software Ships REALbasic 2005 for Mac

R EAL Software announced Tuesday it is now shipping REALbasic 2005 for Macintosh, an update to its cross-platform object-oriented language and development environment with over 100 new enhancements.

REALbasic 2005 includes a brand-new, Linux-based integrated development environment (IDE), and an improved user interface. It also incorporates the latest Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger Spotlight technology, REAL SQL Database, a single-user database engine based on SQLabs? SQLite software, a new HTML viewer control, custom UI controls, more compatibility with Visual Basic, a Spotlight QueryClass for building Spotlight-ready applications, support for multiple simultaneously opened projects, and more.

REALbasic users on Tiger can search all of their REALbasic projects from within REALbasic. They can also use the REALbasic Spotlight Plugin to include REALbasic projects when using Spotlight from the Finder. The SpotlightQuery class added to REALbasic 2005 enables developers to incorporate Spotlight searches into their applications.

REALbasic 2005 is available in professional and standard editions. REALbasic 2005 Professional Edition is offered at a special introductory price of US$399.95 -- $100 of its list price. REALbasic 2005 Standard Edition retails for $99.95. An upgrade from the standard edition to professional costs $199.95. The REALbasic 2005 Standard Edition upgrade is $49.95.
