Radiation Software Updated With OS X Support From Black Cat

Black Cat System has released an update for Rad 1.3.0. Rad is the software driver for the GM-10 and 45 desktop radiation detectors. The update brings OS X compatability to the detectors. According to Black Cat Systems:

Black Cat Systems announces the release of a Mac OSX driver for the USB versions of the GM-10 and GM-45 nuclear radiation detectors, which plug into any Macintosh or Windows computer(using a USB port) and detect alpha, beta, gamma, and x-ray radiation.

The GM-10 is small (about 4 by 2 1/2 by 1 1/4 inches), lightweight (under four ounces), and simple to use. It just plugs into your computeris serial port, and is self powered off of the port, no batteries or AC adapters are required, making it easy to use with a laptop in portable applications. The GM-45 is slightly larger, and is approximately 25 times more sensitive for alpha and beta radiation.

You can find more information about the Rad update at the Black Cat Systems Web site. The GM-10 radiation detector is available for US$149.00, and the GM-45 is available for US$349.00.
