Rolling Stones Take Macs On Tour

The Rolling Stones Bigger Band concert tour lighting effects are being controlled with G5 Macs, according to a 4RFV story. The Macs are controlling lighting for the stage, and manage a series of lighted layered panels and balconies, along with a 200 foot wide, 80 foot high canvas screen.

The Macs are running PixelMAD 4 to coordinate the lighting effects with the music, which is capable of producing complex patterns and effects, and playing QuickTime movies through DMX lighting fixtures.

By coincidence, the Stones have a link with Microsoft, too. Ten years ago, it licensed the song Start Me Up to promote the launch of Windows 95.
