SanDisk Introduces Two Flash Drives: Fingerprint Security & Titanium Body

< A href="http://www.sandisk.com">SanDisk announced Thursday two new USB 2.0 flash hard drives, the Cruzer Profile, 2 gigabyte Cruzer Titanium. The Cruzer Profile is a 512 megabyte or 1GB flash drive with fingerprint security to protect your data, and the 2GB Cruzer Titanium is a flash drive with a titanium body for strength.

Cruzer Profile: The Cruzer Profile is intended for people who wish to keep their data secure, and control who can access it. The product is the size of pack of gum (60mm long, 24mm wide, and 14mm in height), and comes in 512MB or 1GB capacities.

The device also comes with built-in fingerprint scanning capability. All of the fingerprints scanned by the device are stored locally, and are never passed to a computer, an added layer of security. The Profile can also be accessed via passwords.

SanDisk has not yet added information about the Cruzer Profile to its Web site, but the company has priced the 512MB model at US$99.99, and the 1GB unit at $199.99. Both sizes should ship in mid-April.

2GB Cruzer Titanium: The 2GB Cruzer Titanium is a USB 2.0 flash drive that the company called "virtually indestructible." The company said that the device is being manufactured from a titanium alloy that is 2.5 times stronger than normal titanium.

The 2GB unit is expected to ship in April, and is priced at $249.99. SanDisk has not yet added information about this version of the Cruzer Titanium line to its Web site, but you can see the other sizes the company is offering.
