Students at Shoreline, Wash.is public secondary and high schools have received Macintosh laptops to use at school and at home. As MacDailyNews pointed out, Shoreline is just 21 miles from Microsoftis Redmond campus, so itis possible some of the companyis employeesi children are part of the program.
A Seattle Times report noted that kids will be using the laptops for research, paper writing, presentations, communication with teachers, and more. The initiative started with a pilot program at one Shoreline school last year and this year expanded to include 4,800 students.
