Skype Adds New Options for Voice-Over-IP Phone Calls

Skype Technologies on Thursday released version 1.3.0.8 of Skype, its voice-over-IP software that enables users to make phone calls over the Internet. The new version offers several added features, including an events and services module in the main window, the option to show online contacts only, the automatic setting of online status to away when a screensaver starts and more.

Skype is free and requires Mac OS X v10.3, a G3 processor, 128MB RAM, 20MB free hard drive space and a broadband or 33.6Kbps minimum dial-up Internet connection. The developer also offers a free Skype Widget for Mac OS X v10.4 users.
