All models of the Encore/ST carry 2MB of double data rate (DDR) L3 cache. This is the latest and fastest in memory technology, and is what Apple now employs on its G4 towers. Since it is the new Apple standard, DDR provides the highest level of hardware compatibility going forward, without the need for special software patches or updates.
