T-Squared Updates FootTrack With Improved Importing

T-Squared Software has released an update for FootTrack, bringing it to version 1.5. FootTrack is a utility designed for the cataloging and compression of video footage. The update features improved importing and expanded clip export info. According to T-Squared Software:

T-SQUARED SOFTWARE RELEASES FOOTTRACK 1.5.

FootTrack is a new application built for Mac OS X that allows you to catalog and easily search your digital video tape footage. Once you catalog all your video tape footage with our application, any clip on any tape is just a search away. With itis easy to use interface youill wonder how you ever got along without FootTrack.

FootTrack works equally well if you have the space to keep all your DV footage on your hard drive, or you want to compress it and keep all your tape footage close at hand . A 60 minute tape of digital video takes up approximately 12.5GB of disk. When compressed in FootTrack it takes approximately 180MB including images for each clip.

Whatis new for version 1.5:

  • Capture from your video camera directly into your FootTrack catalog. No more needing to first import into Final Cut or iMovie. This functionality was developed in collaboration with LQ Graphics, Inc
  • You can now export both tape and clip information out of FootTrack. The current options are CSV (comma separated values) and Batch Capture List (for Final Cut Pro users)
  • For the users of LQ Graphicsi Movie Archive application you can now import your movie archives into FootTrackis catalog
  • When you import clips thereis a new option to use the clip filename as the clip name. This is useful if youive named all your clip files yourself (i.e. for archiving to DVD-R) and want FootTrack to get the clip name from the filename
  • For those archiving their DV video to DVD-R there is now a "DVD" tape type. You even get a new DVD icon in the tape/group viewer
  • There are some handy new keyboard shortcuts for viewing your movie. alt-left/right arrow jumps 30 frames at a time. shift-alt-left/right arrow jumps 300 frames. The home/end keys also take you to the beginning/end of the clip
  • Numerous other minor bug fixes

You can find more information about the FootTrack update at the product home page. FootTrack 1.5 is free for registered users, while the full version is available for US$29.95.
