TMO Upgrades Forums: Mac Designed Avatars, Polls, New User Features, More

W e are as happy as can be to announce a major upgrade to our forums. We have upgraded the forum engine to phpBB 2.0, a fantastic open source forum system. The new version includes a host of new features such as user avatars (images that a user can include with his or her posts), the ability to post polls where other members can vote, a vastly improved posting menu, and other improved user features (see more below).

We have gotten together with some of the top Mac OS X icon designers to offer some great avatars for our registered users. We have more than 400 avatars to choose from, and there are more on the way. The following icon developers all have icons in our gallery, arranged in directories with their name:

In addition to the great avatars we have (and are still working on), users can also submit their own avatars.

Other new features include the ability to pull up all of the forum threads that are new since your last visit (a very handy feature for keeping up with the discussion), the ability to go directly to the most recent post by clicking on the small paper icon next to the "Last Post" listing, an easy to use clickable menu of all the graphical smiles available in the forums, a similar clickable menu of the BBCode options, an enhanced private messaging system, the ability to automatically login, a topic review when replying to threads, a post preview option, and (literally) more.

The biggest improvement in the forums is the new look and feel we have. We developed our own layout and color scheme, including new buttons, and the combined effect is what we think are the best looking forums in the Mac Web. Itis also easier to read, and to use. Top all that off with some of the brightest, friendliest, and fun people around, and we think you will enjoy our forum community.
