Insider Software joined the Mac OS X revolution today by announcing Insider UpdateAgent X, a new version of its five-mouse-rated online service that updates all Mac OS X and OS 9 applications, including Carbonized applications, traditional Mac OS Classic applications, as well as OS X-specific ibundledi Cocoa and Classic applications.
SUPPORTING CARBON, COCOA AND CLASSIC APPLICATIONS
The new version of Insider UpdateAgent X supports all Macintosh applications, including Classic, Carbon, and Cocoa versions. "Classic" applications are those without support for the Carbon specification and run in the Compatability Environment under OS X. Applications written to support OS X are "Carbon" versions. Applications written exclusively for Mac OS X systems are termed "Cocoa" versions.
GETTING READY FOR A FLOOD OF MAC OS X APPLICATIONS
Insider UpdateAgent X is the fastest, easiest path users can take to prepare their applications for moving to Mac OS X. On Mac OS 9 systems, UpdateAgent provides updates for Apple operating system software and all applications, while on Mac OS X it supports Appleis new Software Update application that automatically downloads new OS updates over the Internet. As part of the service on both operating systems, UpdateAgent not only downloads appropriate updaters, but also provides direct inks to developersi update web pages.
