Wacom Debuts Wireless Graphire Pen Tablet

Wacom Technology on Friday rolled out its latest Graphire tablet, the first from the company to incorporate Bluetooth wireless technology. The device, which sells for US$249.99, features a 6- by 8-inch active area and the ability to work while up to 30 feet away from the computer. The Graphireis pen offers 512 levels of pressure sensitivity and doesnit require a battery -- juice is supplied by the tabletis rechargeable lithium polymer battery, which runs up to 25 hours between charges.

Like Wacomis other tablets, Graphire Bluetooth includes two programmable ExpressKeys buttons that can be mapped to oft-used keystrokes, modifiers and other functions. It ships with a two-button, cordless mouse that features a programmable, clickable scroll wheel. The tablet, which requires Mac OS X v10.2.8 and Bluetooth 1.1 or higher, also comes with Adobe Photoshop Elements 2, Corel Painter Essentials 2 and nik multimedia Inc.is Color Efex Pro 2 GE.
