Western Digital announced Thursday an expansion of its line of external hard drives, adding five new drives with USB 2.0 connectivity.
The new drives have 80GB, 120GB, 160GB, 200GB and 250GB capacities. The Dual-option line includes a Safe Shutdown feature that automatically transfers data before the drive is shut down and comes with Dantz Retrospect Express software for backing up files on-demand or automatically.
The Dual-option drives have 8MB buffers, except for a 2MB option on the 120GB model.
The company did not announce pricing of the new products and would not say when the drives will be available for purchase. You can find more information on the product line at Western Digitalis Web site.
