OpenOSX announced the immediate availability of WinTel 2.0 for the Mac on Tuesday. The emulator lets you use the open source Bochs software to install and run x86/Pentium-based operating systems on the Mac while booted in Mac OS X. This new version is compiled as a Universal Binary, letting it run natively on both PowerPC-based Macs, as well as the new Intel-based Macs. It also adds new features, has improved stability, and improved performance.
OpenOSX WinTel ships with ten operating system disk images, including FreeBSD, REd Hat Linux, FreeDOS, and more. It is also capable of running Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT 4.0, and XP Professional.
OpenOSX Wintel 2.0 is available for download at the OpenOSX Web site, and is priced at US$25, or $30 on CD.
