World of Warcraft Passes 1 Million European Subscribers

Blizzard Entertainment on Thursday announced that the European version of its massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) World of Warcraft now has more than one million subscribers. The company said the number quadruples the previously estimated size of the entire market for MMORPGs in Europe.

Blizzard also noted that last year, the game topped the PC sales charts in Europe, where itis available in English, French and German. World of Warcraft launched in North America, Australia and New Zealand in November 2004, with Korea, Europe, China, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau coming online last year. The worldwide subscriber base for the game now exceeds 5.5 million customers.
