AirPort Extreme Base Station Now Sports Gigabit Ethernet

Apple slipped a quiet upgrade out on Wednesday morning for the AirPort Extreme Base Station. The companyis 802.11n-compatible wireless access point now includes Gigabit Ethernet ports instead of the 10/100 ports found on earlier models.

The new AirPort Extreme Base Station includes three local network ports, and one WAN port that support Gigabit Ethernet speeds. It also includes the shared USB 2.0 port found on the Base Station it replaces, and continues to support the older 802.11a, b, and g standards.

Appleis 802.11n-compatible AirPort Extreme Base Station is priced at US$179.
