Amazon Cloud Player Gets Unlimited Storage, iPad Web Support

Amazon updated its Cloud Player online music storage and streaming service on Thursday with unlimited storage capacity and a new Web interface for iPad users.

Cloud Player launched in March with 5GB of free storage, Web browser support for laptop and desktop computers, and an Android OS client app. At the time, Amazon also offered additional storage capacity ranging from 20GB for US$20 a year, up to a terabyte of storage for $1,000.

In early May Amazon quietly and unofficially added Web browser support for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, although users were presented with warnings saying that their device wasn’t compatible with the service.

Amazon’s unlimited storage deal requires users to sign up for additional storage such as the 20GB annual upgrade plan. The unlimited storage offer is available for a limited time, although Amazon hasn’t said exactly when it plans to stop offering the deal.
