Angry Birds HD Updated with 15 New Levels

Chillingo released a new version of Angry Birds HD for iPad this week. Version 1.5 includes 15 new levels, support for Apple’s Game Center, a new Golden Egg, a new theme, and a new feature called The Mighty Eagle that allows users to bypass a level.

We should explain The Mighty Eagle: Firstly, it’s an in-app purchase for US$0.99. For your buck, you get a tool called The Mighty Eagle that allows you to bypass a level in order to move on to the next, which is designed to allow players who get stuck to keep playing until they can come back to the stuck level and complete it. The key is that you can only bypass one level at a time. Once you go back and complete that level, you get your Mighty Eagle back for use on another level.

While we’re at it, you should check out Angry Birds: The All-Purpose Guide to Three Stars [Part 1] and Angry Birds: The All-Purpose Guide to Three Stars [Part 2], by our very own Ted Landau. It’s a very handy reference for getting higher scores in the game, which comes in handy considering the new support for Game Center in this update.

Version 1.5 patch notes:

  • A new theme in the Frontier Badlands
  • 15 New Levels - No Bellyachin’
  • A new Golden Egg for ya’ll city slickers
  • Game Center Support
  • Cowboy up with The Mighty Eagle

The patch notes also include a thank you to the company’s customers: “We’d like to take this opportunity to extend our infinite gratitude to friends of our fierce birds everywhere. We thank you sincerely from the bottoms of our fluffy hearts for making Angry Birds the highest rated and best selling game ever on iTunes!”
