Apple Releases iOS 6.1.2 with Exchange Fix

Apple's iOS 6.1.2 Update released to fix Exchange battery drain issueApple released iOS 6.1.2 on Tuesday with a fix for a Microsoft Exchange-related issue that could cause iPhone user's battery to drain quickly. The update was anticipated, and rumors claimed it would hit some time this week.

The bug in iOS 6.1 cropped up when users with Exchange accounts would accept a one-off change to recurring calendar events. Apple acknowledged the bug last week and promised a fix, which sounded much better than Microsoft's solution which was to suggest IT managers should block iPhone access to their Exchange servers.

iOS 6.1.2 is a free update and can be installed by doing this:

  • Tap Settings on your iPhone
  • Tap General
  • Tap Software Update
  • Tap Download and Install

While iOS 6.1 seems to have more than its fair share of bugs, it's nice to see Apple own up to the issues and release fixes quickly.
