Apple Trademark Reveals New Beats Radio Stations

More Beats radio stations may be coming soonApple Music's Beats 1 Internet radio station may soon have some company. The iPhone and iPad maker filed a trademark application for Beats 2, Beats 3, Beats 4, and Beats 5, and all sport the same logo design as Beats 1.

The trademark filing covers broadcasting, transmission, and streaming music, which is a pretty good indicator that Apple plans to use the monikers for additional Internet radio stations.

Beats 1 is an online radio station that's included with the Apple Music streaming service. It runs all day every day around the world, with Zane Lowe, Julie Adenuga, and Ebro Darden, along with special guest host DJs.

The music selection on Beats 1 is fairly wide, but still leaves room for additional stations. Apple could be planning on expanding its Beats radio station lineup to include more focused music genres, and its deal with record labels lets it add up to five more stations without renegotiating.

So far Apple hasn't said what it plans to do with the extra Beats names. That said, it seems likely we'll be seeing more radio-style music choices from Apple Music in the coming months.
