Apple Prepping 11.6-inch MacBook Air

Apple is apparently working on a new and smaller MacBook Air model with an 11.6-inch display. The new model could ship in the second half of 2010, according to Digitimes, although Apple isn’t confirming an updated MacBook Air is on the way.

Assuming the Digitimes sources are correct, the new MacBook Air model will use Intel’s Core i-series processors that offer ultra-low power consumption. The laptop will also be thinner and weigh less than the current MacBook Air.

Along with the new MacBook Air model, Digitimes is also claiming Apple will release a new iPod touch model in August or September. The updated iPod model will apparently include a 3 megapixel camera with photo and video capture support, and will adopt the same A4 processor used in the iPhone 4.

Apple doesn’t comment on unannounced products or rumors, and Digitimes doesn’t have the best reputation for Apple product predictions, so take these two product update reports with an appropriate grain of salt.
