Apple’s iPad shipment expectations for the first calendar quarter or 2011 should hit 6 million units and could climb as high as 6.5 million. That number will include between 300,000 and 400,000 iPad 2 units as part of the second generation multimedia tablet’s first order run.
Apple wants to build a lot of iPads in 2011
Supply chain sources claim Apple ordered nearly 2 million iPads in January and again in February, and that March’s iPad orders will top the 2 million mark, according to DigiTimes.
Apple’s iPad shipments for all of 2011 are expected to hit the 40 million mark.
Apple will be hosting a special media event on Wednesday, March 2 at 10AM pacific time where the company is expected to introduce the second generation iPad, or as the media has been calling it, iPad 2.
