Apple Releases iOS 4.2.6 for Verizon iPhone

Apple pushed out iOS 4.2.6 on Thursday for the Verizon-compatible iPhone 4. The firmware update coincides with the model’s official launch and addresses an issue with the Personal Hotspot feature.

The update fixes an issue where the iPhone could show inaccurate usage information for hotspot data. The hotspot feature lets users share their 3G data connection via Wi-Fi with up to five devices.

iOS 4.2.6 is already installed on some shipping Verizon iPhone 4 units, so not all customers will need to take the time to update their device.

To see what version of iOS is installed on your iPhone, tap Settings, then go to General > About. The iOS version number will be listed along with the number of songs, movies and applications installed.

Verizon iPhone users can upgrade to iOS 4.2.6 by launching iTunes and connecting their iPhone to their computer. If you aren’t sure how to install iOS updates, be sure to check out our TMO Quick Tip with detailed instructions.
