Apple Releases Java Update 3 for Leopard

Apple released Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 3 late on Thursday. The update includes security and compatibility changes for the Java Web Start and Java Applet components.

The security update patches flaws that could allow untrusted Java Web Start applications and applets to obtain elevated privileges, leading to arbitrary code execution at the current user's privilege level.

The update is available via Apple's Software Update application and requires Mac OS X 10.5.6.
