Apple to Unveil Revolutionary HUMANCENTiPAD on South Park

| News

Trey Parker and Matt Stone have set their satirical sights on Apple, announcing that the 15th season of South Park will kick off April 27th (10:00 PM EDT) with a “revolutionary” new product from Steve Jobs and his company. Comedy Central put out a press release announcing that the cartoon would feature a new Apple product called “HUMANCENTiPAD,” complete with a Steve Jobs media event announcing the device.

“Kyle is intimately involved in the development of a revolutionary new product that is about to be launched by Apple,” the comedy network said in a statement. “Meanwhile, Cartman doesn’t even have a regular iPad yet. He blames his mother.”

South Park has built its reputation by skewering religion, politics, pop culture, technology, itself, and just about everything else under the sun. Many find the cartoon offensive, which stems in part from the creator’s unapologetic assault on its targets, as well as such features as a constant stream of profanity from the child characters in the show.

It seems a safe bet that the creators won’t be using kid gloves in their examination of Apple’s incredible success and the company’s products. Indeed, if you’re easily offended, you shouldn’t even watch the episode’s trailer (below).

Time to hire a proofreader (HAMANCETiPAD) ...

Also, most of the country is on Daylight Savings Time, so you might want to consider replacing “EST” with “EDT” or, even better, “ET.”

Bryan Chaffin

Thanks for catching that. Both fixed.

Also, many FIND the cartoon offensive, not FUND the cartoon offensive….

Not that there’s anything wrong with that!

Bryan Chaffin

Also fixed., Thanks, Intruder.

While we’re all nit-picking, it’s “Daylight Saving Time” not “Daylight Savings Time.” grin

I tried to watch the trailer, but it doesn’t play on my iPad!

Wait, one more correction: The trailer spells it “HUMANCENTiPAD” (not “HUMANCETiPAD”).

Ya know, if y’all put a “Submit A Correction” button next to the “Post A Comment” button, we wouldn’t clutter up the comments section pointing out trivial errors. Might save you some embarrassment, too!

Also, it should be “set their satirical sights” (not “sites”).

Sorry to pile on! grin

Bryan Chaffin

Yes, I (at least) need that feature, Windsor!  This piece was a copy editing catastrophe. My use of the wrong cite/site/sight was particularly annoying.

Thanks for all the notes, folks.

The folks at Comedy Central only made it available for embedding as Flash.

My Nexus One could see the video. I’m totally serial. In full screen too. And I still have battery left. I am totally amazed at the patty garbage some of you will put up with to be in the tribe.

I can’t understand what that guy in the front says at the end of the video.
