Apple released an update to QuickTime Monday, bringing the multimedia software to version 7.6.2. The update specifically improves the way QuickTime handles Apple ProRes media, and also improves compatibility with iTunes 8.2, which was also released Monday.
iTunes 8.2 adds support for the impending release of iPhone Software 3.0 release.
On the security side QuickTime 7.6.2 includes a host of major and minor security patches, several of which could allow the bad guys to take over your Mac or PC. Accordingly, The Mac Observer recommends you install the patch at your earliest convenience.
The update is a 60.3MB download, and can be accessed through Software Update in Mac OS X, and the Apple Updater in Windows.
