Developer Pierre-Alain Dorange on Wednesday released the arcade game MicroWar 2, which begins in the year 1984, when the original Macintosh shipped, and moves through computer history, pitting the player’s Mac against swarms of attacking PCs. The gameplay is akin to such arcade game classics as Space Invaders and Galaga.
As players make their way through computer history, power-ups improve their performance or restore lost lives. MicroWar 2 is free and is a Universal Binary that requires Mac OS X version 10.3.9. It’s also available for Windows XP, Windows 7, and Linux Ubuntu 8. No, the Windows version does not have the player shoot down Macs.
