Aspyr Ships Civilization IV Gold Edition (Game & Warlords Xpac Combo)

Aspyr Media on Tuesday shipped Civilization IV Gold Edition, which combines the popular turn-based strategy game with the Warlords expansion pack. Developed by Sid Meier's Firaxis Games studio, Civilization IV gives each player a single city in the year 4000 BC and challenges them to build their empire while dealing with rival nations, production and trade of resources, technology development, and more.

Players can win not only by conquering all other civilizations but also by controlling the majority of the world's land and population, by sending a spaceship to Alpha Centauri, by increasing three cities' culture ratings to "Legendary" levels, or by winning a United Nations election and being declared World Leader. If no player achieves one of those goals by the year 2050 AD, the one with the highest score is declared the winner.

The Warlords expansion pack features additional civilizations and scenarios, new Wonders to build, a new category of Great People known as Great Generals, the ability to create vassal states, new unique buildings, new leaders and new leader traits, new resources, and more.

Pricing is US$49.95 and system requirements call for Mac OS X version 10.3.9, a 1.8GHz G5 or Intel processor, 512MB RAM, 3.5GB of hard drive space, and 64MB of video RAM. Mac OS X version 10.4.6, a 2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, and 128MB of video RAM are recommended.
