AT&T Offers Buy One Get One Free Promotion for iPhone 6s/6

AT&T launched an aggressive offer Friday that allows customers to get a free iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus if they buy an iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus...with some important caveats. The first is that each device must be on a new line—upgrades need not apply. The second caveat is that the free iPhone 6 or 6 Plus is a 16GB model, regardless of storage capacity on the iPhone 6s.

But wait, there's more. The free device is covered by $650 in credits spread out over 28 or 30 months, depending on which plan you choose. That technically means you're on the hook for the device should you not fulfill the terms of the contract, which keep you as an AT&T customer the whole time.

Next, some users have reported being able to apply that credit on a higher capacity device, meaning their payments are only a few dollars per month instead of $25 or more. There are also some additional options hinging on down payments made by you.

Lastly, AT&T's promotion is actually for a free Samsung Galaxy S6, but the folks at MacRumors found out AT&T will let you do an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus instead.

The offer ends December 31st, 2015.
