Autodesk Releases 123D Sculpt App for iPad

Autodesk on Wednesday released its free 123D Sculpt app for iPad, which allows users to turn shapes, colors, and textures into 3D art. Seventeen starting shapes — creatures, people, vehicles, and basic geometric objects — are provided, and users can then enlarge, shrink, and warp the object.

Users can also add details from a palette of stamps, textures, and images, and they can also import their own images or snap photos with the iPad 2’s camera and use those pictures too. The finished creations can be shared as still photos or HD turntable movies from within the app, via email, or through Facebook, Flickr, or YouTube.

Five different packs of four shapes are each available for US$0.99 as in-app purchases.
