blackra1n RC2 Adds iPhone 3GS Jailbreak Support

Popular iPhone hacker George Hotz, or Geohot, added the ability to jailbreak the iPhone 3GS and 8GB iPod touch to his blackra1n utility on Sunday. blackra1n RC2 can hack any iPhone or iPod touch so that unauthorized third-party applications can be installed on the device.

Jailbreaking is the process of hacking an iPhone or iPod touch so users can install and run applications that aren't available through Apple's iTunes-based App Store.

blackra1n RC2 also fixed issues with jailbreaking the iPhone 3G. The free jailbreak hack requires a Mac or Windows-based PC to install, and it doesn't unlock iPhones for use on any cell carrier.

Apple doesn't support iPhone or iPod touch models that have been jailbroken and future OS updates could disable the hack, so use hacks like blackra1n only if you know what you are doing.

blackra1n is free and available at the Web site.
