Following an earlier report that Foxconn is planning on building a factory in Brazil to produce iPhones and iPads for Apple, a second report has surfaced claiming the same. Like the original, this new report comes from a government agency in Brazil.
optionMONSTER dug up the new report, which comes courtesy of Brazil’s Invest St. Paul. The organization spearheads efforts to bring new investment and expansion into the Sao Paulo area.
Foxconn may be building iPhones and iPads in Brazil soon
Invest St. Paul chairman, Luciano Almeida, siad Foxconn is expected to be producing iPhones and iPads in the country by November, and that the facility will reach its maximum production capability within four years. He added that Apple representatives have been in talks related to the facility with Governor Geraldo Alckmin.
Several cities are in the running for the Foxconn factory, and the jobs it brings are expected to give the local economy a much needed boost.
Apple and Foxconn have not commented on the rumored Brazil factory.
