Firefox Home for iPhone Available at the App Store

| Product News

Mozilla’s Firefox Home for the iPhone and iPod touch hit Apple’s App Store on Friday. The app gives Firefox users access to the bookmarks, tabs and history from Firefox on their desktop computer.

The app takes advantage of Mozilla’s sync servers to keep data up to date on mobile devices, and includes Firefox’s Awesome Bar feature for jumping to favorite Web sites.

Firefox Home is free, and is available at Apple’s iTunes-based App Store.

Call me when FireFox is available for iPhone and iPad. We need more browser options (simply because not all programs/websites like Safari due to corporate restrictions).

Opera is available.

You should take a look at Atomic Web app. It is a browser for the iPad. You can change it’s user agent to: Mobile Safari (generic, iphone, ipad), Safari Desktop, Wap Device (?), Firefox 3, and Internet Explorer (6, 7, and 8).

I haven’t used it much, so I can’t speak to the quality, but I’ve used it for sites that don’t want to see Safari.

The app I’m referring to is from one of the largest makers of higher education support and development software and it’s coded specifically to IE 7 & 8 and Firefox.

Opera, Safari, Chrome, Schirra, etc. do not work.

And it’s FRUSTRATING!!! But this is a package that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars and getting them to change it has proven untenable so far and we (nor any other university using it) cannot change readily after nearly 10 years and countless man-hours invested into it JUST for iPad access.

I know what you mean though. Our web group codes our company sites only for FF. Works great on company computers but elsewhere not so much. I keep telling them that HTML should work with all browsers but they won’t listen to me.
