HBO Coming to Sling TV Ahead of Game of Thrones Launch

Apple TV isn't the only set top box getting HBO in time for season 5 of Game of Thrones because now it's coming to Sling TV, too. Unlike Apple TV's HBO Now channel, however, HBO on Sling TV will part of the "Best of Live TV" core subscription package instead of a stand-alone subscription channel.

HBO on Sling TV will include one live channel and video on demand, and will be available on all platforms that support the Sling TV service such as Amazon Fire TV, Roku TV, Xbox One, iPhone, and the Mac.

The Best of Live TV package includes ESPN, ESPN2, AMC, A&E, TNT, History Channel, H2, TBS, Food Network, HGTV, Travel Channel, IFC, El Rey, Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, ABC Family, Disney Channel, CNN, Lifetime and Galavision for US$20 a month. Tossing HBO into the mix brings the price up to $35 a month.

HBO on Sling TV isn't the same as Apple's exclusive HBO Now deal, priced at $14.99 a month. For many viewers who already have Sling TV-compatible devices, a single HBO channel with VOD for previous shows will be plenty.
