iPad 3G Hits Stores on April 30

Apple announced on Tuesday that the first wave of iPad with Wi-Fi and 3G wireless data support pre-orders will make it into customer’s hands on April 30th, and will hit store shelves at 5PM the same day.

The iPad is Apple’s multimedia tablet that runs iPhone OS and sports a 9.7-inch touch-based display. The Wi-Fi model shipped in the U.S. on April 3rd and Apple promised the 3G model would ship by the end of the month.

The Wi-Fi plus 3G iPad requires a wireless data service plan to take advantage of data access away from Wi-Fi connections. AT&T is offering no-contract monthly plans at US$15 for 250MB of data, and $30 for unlimited data.

Customers in  Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the U.K. will be able to get their hands on the Wi-Fi and WI-Fi plus 3G iPad models at the end of May. Apple will announce international pricing and begin taking pre-orders in those countries on May 10.

The company has also begun shipping the iPad digital camera connection kit to customers.
