iPhone 6s and 6s Plus Stuck Battery Indicator Workaround

| TMO Quick Tip

Suffering from the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus stuck battery percentage indicator? Apple has a fix—and by "fix," we mean "workaround."

Here's the problem: You're traveling and you manually change time zones on your iPhone. After that, your battery percentage indicator stops updating.

Here's the fix workaround: Turn off your iPhone by pressing and holding the power button until you see the on-screen slider telling you to swipe to shut down. Wait for the shutdown process to complete then press the power button again to turn on your iPhone. Now go to Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically.

That'll get your battery percentage indicator working again, but it doesn't fix the underlying problem. Apple says it's working on sorting out what's behind the issue and plans to release a bug fix at some point. Until then, it looks like letting your iPhone auto-switch time zones is the best option.

Serious question:
Auto time zone switching works so well. Why would you go to manual?
I’m not being facetious or snarky. I’m actually curious when you’d want to set your device to a time zone not where you are. Wouldn’t that mess up all sorts of network connections and functions?

Geoduck, I had gotten to the habit when getting on a cross country flight of setting the clock to the destination time.

furbies

Mr Dronick, might it be easier to create a “place” in the World Clock pane in the Clock app and leave the iPhone set to automagically handle the time setting ?

And if you need to see what the time is at the destination, just use the Clock app ?

just my AUD$ .02 worth….

Old habit from the days of feature phones, and indeed back to when I wore wristwatches.

Now I am back to wearing a wristwatch though these days it is an  Watch.
