iPhone 5 Due in October, Not September

The rumors claiming Apple is launching the iPhone 5 in September are wrong, assuming the latest rumor saying to look for an October launch are correct. Word of the October release window comes courtesy of AllThingsD and an unnamed source.

Sources are vague on when in October the iPhone 5 will be released, but at least some anonymous seem to think it will be later in the month. An October launch doesn’t fit with reports that AT&T is planning on extra in-store staff during the last half of September to handle new iPhone sales.

“I don’t know why AT&T’s calling for all hands on deck those weeks, but it’s not for an iPhone launch,” one source said.

Apple hasn’t commented on when it will release a new iPhone model, or what features it will include. For now, the September — and now October — launch reports should be treated as rumors.
