MacPracticeAdds ePrescribe

MacPractice, Inc. announced on Tuesday that ePrescribe capability will be available to users of their practice management software packages in April with MacPractice 3.6 in cooperation with NewCrop, a provider of electronic prescriptions. As the name suggests, MacPractice is an office management solution for doctors.

Legislation has been passed that increases Medicare payments to doctors who ePrescribe in 2009, and decreases payments to those who do not in 2010. At the end of 2008, product specifications were published that ePrescribe solutions must meet to qualify for additional Medicare reimbursement. MacPractice has collaborated with NewCrop to create a solution that satisfies the new requirements.

Physicians, dentists, chiropractors and eye doctors are encouraged to view QuickTime demonstration movies of MacPractice software by registering at MacPractice.com.  Pricing for the ePerscribe support has not yet been announced, and a company spokesperson told The Mac Observer that it will be available in two tiers.
