Man Makes Mac Printer with Felt Tip Pen & LEGOs

What would you do if you had four LEGO motors, some LEGOs, and an extra felt tip pen lying around? That’s a question that has no doubt been pondered and debated through the ages, but its a question that YouTube member horseattack has finally answered: Build a printer!

In his YouTube posting, horseattack said that he built the device and the circuits himself, and that he did not use LEGO MindStorms.

“This is not Mindstorms,” he wrote. “I designed/built/coded it all from scratch including analog motor electronics, sensors and printer driver, the USB interface uses a ‘wiring’ board.”

He also said it took him approximately three weeks of evenings to complete, that the printer prints less than one page per minute, and that it used Helvetica as the type face.

This video was posted three weeks ago, and millions of people have already seen it. For those who have not yet seen it, however, enjoy! Check out horseattack’s YouTube channel for some LEGO stop-motion animation, too.
