Red Sweater announced the immediate availability of MarsEdit 3 for Mac OS X on Tuesday. The new version of the blog entry and editing application added a rich text editing mode so users can create formatted blog entries without requiring any HTML coding skills.
Version 3 also includes HTML editing support, an improved syntax highlighter that makes it easier to spot coding errors, and the ability to browse and insert images from iPhoto, Aperture and Lightroom libraries. The application also added the ability to schedule media asset uploads so users can add content to their blog entries when editing offline.
The ability to work with WordPress pages and custom fields has been added, too. MarsEdit 3 supports a long list of blog hosting services such as WordPress, Blogger, Tumblr, Squarespace, Movable Type, TypePad, and more.
MarsEdit 3 is priced at US$39.95 and is available for download at the Red Sweater Web site. Updates from earlier versions cost $14.95, and are free for users that purchased MarsEdit on or after January 1, 2010.
