Continuing the trend of aerial progress updates on Apple’s spaceship-style Campus 2 development, new drone footage uploaded Sunday provides a 4K look at how construction has progressed in recent weeks.
After several years of planning, construction on Apple’s radical new campus began last year, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2016. Once completed, the 176-acre campus will house up to 14,000 Apple employees with minimal environmental impact thanks to a number of energy efficient technologies and design choices.
Although internally in development since 2009, Apple first publicly unveiled the design concept for Campus 2 in mid-2011. In the months before his death, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs personally appeared before the Cupertino City Council to lobby for the building’s approval, telling council members that the company’s goal was to create “the best office building in the world.”
