Pebble Smartwatch gets iOS 7 Support

The crew at Pebble released an update for their self named smartwatch on Monday, bringing with it support for iOS 7's Notification Center. Now any alerts that show up in Notification Center will automatically appear on your Pebble, too.

The company said in a blog post,

Pebble is now fully integrated with iOS 7 and works seamlessly with Notification Center. This means that any notifications you've enabled in Notification Center on your iOS 7 device will appear on your Pebble — just like that. It's easier than ever to pick and choose which updates you want to see on your watch.

The company said that a new iOS app for controlling notifications is awaiting App Store approval and should be available soon.

Along with proper iOS 7 support, the smartwatch also gained a new SDK for developers that should help them build more useful apps. The new developer kit added support for Javascript, using the built-in accelerometer, data logging, and persistent storage so apps can directly connect to Web-based services that offer information like real time weather and transit data as well as location checkins, and they can also log fitness tracking data and hold other information when your iPhone isn't in range.

Pebble owners can take advantage of the new features once Apple approves the new iOS app, which should be any time now.
