PlayFirst Launches a 'Casual' RPG

PlayFirst on Thursday announced that its "casual" role-playing game (RPG), Wandering Willows, is now available to PlayFirst PlayPass subscribers and will be widely available next Tuesday, March 24. While RPGs tend to be aimed at hardcore gamers with the time and patience to wade through complex back stories and mounds of rules, Wandering Willows is meant for players of puzzle and card titles, along with anything else deemed "casual."

In the storyline, players find themselves stranded after their hot air balloon malfunctions. They embark on over 150 quests, gathering and training more than 40 pets and collecting over 200 recipes and 150 clothing patterns along the way. They can use the patterns to customize their character's look as well as craft items to sell and trade. Players also meet such characters as gruff pirates and rocket ship commanders during their adventures.

Pricing is US$9.95 with a PlayPass account. System requirements call for Mac OS X version 10.4 or 10.5, an 800MHz G4 processor, 256MB RAM, and 32MB of free hard drive space.
