Apple is reportedly ready to introduce a gold iPad as part of its product lineup along side its silver and Space Gray versions. If so, the iPad's color options will match up with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
Report claims gold iPads coming in October
Word of the gold iPad Air comes courtesy of unnamed sources speaking with Bloomberg. The new color is said to be coming at the same time as an iPad Air update some time in October.
Apple last updated the iPad line about a year ago, which puts us in the target window for new product announcements. The company hasn't, however, offered up any hints to indicate a launch is on the way.
Adding a new color to the iPad lineup will likely help boost sales, but the big push will come when Apple reportedly introduces a 12.9-inch model. Unnamed sources told Bloomberg that's coming some time in 2015.
The rumored 12.9-inch iPad is expected to be popular in the enterprise market and could fit in with Apple's business partnership with IBM. Apple isn't talking about its iPad plans, so for now we'll have to wait and see if new models do ship this month, and if a bigger display version really is on the way.
